PTA
The PTA provides a voice for parents of Newpark students. Parents are invited to communicate comments or concerns regarding the school or any aspect of school life to the PTA, and these issues will be raised with the school for discussion.
Interested in joining the PTA? Your committee is looking for new blood! Nominations will be accepted in the two weeks prior to the AGM. Please submit your nominations via email to pta@newparkschool.ie before the meeting.
If you prefer not to be a committee member, but would still like to get involved, don’t worry there’s room for you too! Come along to the AGM and find out what we’re up to. The AGM is held annually in September each year but you can contact the PTA at any time to offer help. (For a copy of the PTA Rules click here.)
Can You Help or Offer a Skill?
If you are a Newpark parent, a past pupil, a past pupil’s parent or a member of the wider Newpark School community and would like to offer help or some expertise to the school on a voluntary basis, the school and PTA would love to hear from you. It is of great benefit to the school when support and expertise is given back to the school by the greater Newpark Community, and it enhances the ability of the school to provide an ever improving education experience for the Newpark students. Perhaps you have a craft or a professional skill that the school might benefit from, or perhaps you have some free time and could help out in the library, with the school newsletter, with a fundraising event, driving the school bus or with lost property etc. If you would like to offer help, please contact the PTA at pta@newparkschool.ie or leave a note in the PTA letter box, which is located in the school entrance foyer to the left of the reception desk.
Meetings
All committee meetings are held on Wednesdays, in the Library or the Boardroom, at 8:00pm. Meetings are listed in the PTA & main school calendars. A downloadable copy of agreed meeting dates is found here.

PTA Working with the Student Council
In 2012 as part of the Senior Student Council presentation to the PTA the student council requested that shelters be provided over the racks the PTA had previously installed. During the Easter break the shelters were installed between the Sports Hall and the prefabs as well as by the entrance to the Sports Hall. A big thank you to John Dillon of the Firhouse Steel Company for the rapid and professional manner in which they installed these shelters.
New bicycle racks located alongside the Sports Hall
In 2010 the PTA approached the Senior Student Council to collaborate on a project together and the Council suggested that the school needed some additional bicycle racks. The PTA arranged a sponsored mountain walk for parents who climbed Lugnaquilla in April, and the money collected was put towards the project. During the summer the bike racks were installed between the Sports Hall and the prefabs. A big thank you to the Newpark Sports Centre who also contributed some money towards the project.

The PTA also collaborated with the Junior Student Council who requested a new water fountain. The 1st Year Sponsored Silence money collected in April was put towards the the purchase of a new water bottle filler which was installed during the summer in the ‘A’ corridor next to the existing water fountain. The PTA hope to collaborate with the Student Councils again this year on a few projects, so if you have any suggestions or ideas, please pass them on to your Student Councils.
