Cricket

There are two cricket teams for girls in Newpark – a 1^st Year team and a Junior Team (for 2^nd and 3^rd Years). Both teams play in the Leinster Cricket Union league and cup competitions and train twice a week during the summer term. This is a new sport in Newpark although it is really only the revival of an old tradition as both the Avoca and Kingstown Schools played cricket. With the help of the Leinster Schools Cricket Branch and Merrion Cricket Club, there are plans to introduce the sport for boys in the future.
