Nursing

Newpark has a nurse on duty in school throughout the entire school day.  Two nurses, Avril Lahiffe and Nola Lambert, share the role of school nurse and work as a central part of the Student Support Team.

The nurses run a first aid office for students and staff who become ill during the school day.  This is open throughout the day, including lunchtime. Any student who needs or wishes to go home because of illness will sign out through the nurses’ office.  Students who are stressed or upset are encouraged to drop in anytime for a chat.  In the case of conflict between students, the nurses are among Newpark’s staff members who are trained to facilitate conflict resolution.

Students are reminded to keep nurses regularly informed about any of their changing medical needs or conditions.
