Student Support

Newpark prides itself on looking after its students’ welfare. It strives to create an enjoyable learning environment where the abilities of every student can be developed to the full. Each pupil is assigned to a Form Teacher who looks after the welfare of the students in that class. They meet their Form Teacher at the beginning of every day at registration and at an extended registration on Wednesday morning. The Form Teacher will deal with any concerns that may arise for a student in their Form. Each class group also has a Year Leader with overall responsibility for any welfare and discipline issues that may arise in that year.

There is also a Student Support team in the school. The team consists of the Chaplains, the Nurses and the Guidance Counsellors. They are available to students during the school day to offer a listening ear, support and advice. If necessary they will organise help from an outside agency. The Student Support team meets weekly in order to ensure a coherent service to students. The team also liaises with parents and staff. For the past number of years, Newpark has also organised a Buddy Mentoring system where the 1st Year students are linked with a Prefect from 6th Year to assist them in settling into life in secondary school.
