Explore New School

March 2011

Following on from a number of appeals by local residents to An Bord Pleanala a decision was reached on the 18th March 2011 to grant permission for the new school building to go ahead. The architect will now proceed to the completion of ‘Sstage 2b’ for the Department of Education and Skills. This is a very significant step forward in the process and brings the prospect of the new school being built nearer to reality.
Currently, the project is fully approved for tender and construction by the Department of Education and Skills.

June 2010

In June 2010 the architects acting on behalf of the school submitted a planning application to Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council (DLRCC) to complete the building of the new school. DLRCC have requested further information on a number of small matters concerning this application and this is currently being gathered by the architects for submission.

When this process is complete, further observations on the planning application can be made by the general public. Once these observations have been made, it is anticipated that a decision on the application should be quickly forthcoming from DLRCC.

November 2000

Newpark has been pursing its New School building project for 10 years. In November 2000 a team of architects completed a comprehensive survey of Newpark facilities and recommended that a new school be built on the site of the existing one. However, due to a series of planning and fiscal issues that required extensive attention, efforts to complete the building project were delayed while these issues were resolved.
